Program Information The event celebrates the official opening of the Library's Coleman T. Holt Oral History Room, the newhome of the Stories of Service Oral History program at the Library.
To date, more than 60 Oral Histories have been captured by the Library's team, and many of those interviews are available on our website and as audio podcasts through iTunes.

The Holt Oral History Room, fully sound-proofed and equipped with state-of-the-art audio visual equipment, allows the Library staff to produce the highest quality recordings of the men and women who generously share their stories with the Library.
The Stories of Service program is successful thanks to the generous support of Karen Pritzker and Michael Vlock with additional support from Colette Holt and Kay Smith. Collaborative organizational partners have included the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library, Free Spirit Media, American Folk Life Center, and the Mission Continues.
Elements of the evening include:
• Unveiling of a watercolor painting commissioned for the Oral History Room, Red Tails Escorting the B17s, by Illinois Artist Laureate Kay Smith. Smith will discuss the research and themes behindthe painting and guests will view video footage of Kay's meetings with Tuskegee Airmen as shelearned about these men.
• Reception featuring hors d' oeuvres and drinks
• Program about the Tuskegee Airmen
