Cherries and Peaches
My good friend had a vacation home in Michigan. Every summer I would look forward to picking cherries in his orchard.
I had to paint fast however - those delicious cherries didn’t last long.
Peonies on Back Porch
I moved my friend Bev’s peonies to the back porch, which added dappled sunlight.
Jade Buddha with Flowers
This little jade Buddha has been in my living room for years.
The painting is a snapshot of the lovely arrangements I discover in my own home.
Tulips with Cinderella
Cinderella relocated from the fireplace to this cushion when I realized her hair and dress complemented the color of the tulips.
Zinnias in Yellow Bucket
This is my favorite corner of the kitchen. I have set up dozens of still life’s here.
The flower subjects change, but the blue fish vase with the American flag is steadfast.
Peonies in Blue Bucket
I bought these peonies for my friend Bev, not knowing she was out of town. Turned out to be a fortunate mistake.
I brought them home and turned the appropriated peonies into this jaunty still life.
Flowers from Jill
This bouquet was a birthday gift from a dear friend.
Aside from being beautiful, it reminds me how lucky I am for the people I have in my life.
Tulips and Lilacs with Crayons
A little whimsical. These spectacular tulips and lilacs have some competition from the bouquet of crayons.
Lilacs with Crayons
Tulips in Blue Vase
Simple but I think elegant - tulips from my garden and vase from my pantry.
Pearls with Red Slip
This is an intimate scene. Our intriguing subject has left only a trace of herself behind-
a crumpled slip, string of pearls and a bottle of perfume. Could the flowers be from her admirer?
Peppers
This is a comeback painting. After spending three months recuperating from Guillain-Barre, a nerve disease that affected my hands, I’d lost confidence in my ability. My daughter brought me this crazy pepper plant and told me the next time she visited she wanted to see a painting. That jolted me into action. Her next visit she exclaimed, “I expected one painting, not eight!”
Peonies in Living Room
I can't stay away from these peonies. This composition was not arranged.
I came downstairs and there it was. I painted just as I saw it…wall radiator and all.
Peonies in Purple Vase
The light brushwork on the petals and leaves is balanced by the translucent glass vase.
The minimal background enhances the elegance of this slender painting.
